The federal government has decided to increase the petroleum levy by 50%. According to the budget documents, an additional petrol levy per liter of Rs 20 to 25 will be levied on petroleum products.

Petroleum levy on petrol and high speed diesel will be increased by Rs 20. Thus, the petroleum levy per liter will be increased from Rs.60 to Rs.80.

Petroleum levy on kerosene, high octane, light speed diesel and ethanol will be increased by Rs 25. Thus, the petroleum levy imposed on these petroleum products will increase from 50 rupees to 75 rupees.

It should be noted that the federal government has presented the federal budget of 18 thousand 877 billion rupees in the National Assembly for the next fiscal year 2024-25.
