Record decline in oil and gas production over past 10 years

In the last 10 years, instead of increasing, oil and gas production in Pakistan has decreased significantly. Major reserves could not be discovered during the period under review due to political and security issues and lack of funds.

According to Pakistan Petroleum Information Service, the daily production of crude oil in 2015 was 94 thousand 500 barrels, which decreased to 70 thousand 500 barrels in 2024.

11% decline in sales of petroleum products on month-on-month basis

According to the report, the production of petrol decreased by 24 thousand barrels per day in 10 years, while the production of gas decreased by 900 mmscfd in 10 years.

In fiscal year 2024, gas production was 3,116 million cubic feet with an annual decline of 4.4 percent. While in the fiscal year 2024, oil production reached 70 thousand 536 barrels per day with a slight increase of five percent.
